Adhkar That Relieve Worry

Our beloved Prophet (pbuh) taught us many simple adhkar that relieve worry. These adhkar can be said any time of the day and are so simple. The next time you feel worried, turn your worry into ibadah with these 8 adhkar.

1. Solution for All Worries:
“أَسْتَغْفِرُ اللهَ وَأَتُوبُ إِلَيْهِ”.

Astaghfirullaaha wa ‘atoobu ‘ilayhi. (I seek the forgiveness of Allah and repent to Him.)
Reference: The Prophet (pbuh) said, “Whoever does a lot of Istighfar, Allah will provide him a way out of each concern he has, and will solve all his troubles, and will provide him with livelihood from sources that were not known to him.” (Bukhari, Muslim)

2. Protection from Negative Thoughts:
أعوذُ بِٱللَّهِ مِنَ ٱلشَّيۡطَٰنِ ٱلرَّجِيمِ

A’uuthu billahi minashshayTaanir Rajeem (I seek the protection of Allah from Satan the outcast.)
Reference: “And if there comes to you from Satan an evil suggestion, then seek refuge in Allah.” (Holy Quran 41:36).
Shaykh Yasir Qadhi has an excellent youtube video that explains the benefits of this dhikr in more detail:

3. Less Worries about the Day of Resurrection (said 3 times):
“رَضِيتُ باللهِ رَبَّاً، وَبِالْإِسْلَامِ دِيناً، وَبِمُحَمَّدٍ صَلَى اللهُ عَلِيهِ وَسَلَّمَ نَبِيَّاً”.

Radheetu billaahi Rabban, wa bil-‘Islaami deenan, wa bi-Muhammadin Nabiyyan. (I am pleased with Allah as my Lord, with Islam as my religion and with Muhammad [peace and blessings of Allah be upon him] as my Prophet.)
Reference:
“Allah has promised that anyone who says this three times every morning or evening will be pleased on the Day of Resurrection.” (Ahmad, An-Nasa’i, At-Tirmithi)

4. Overcome all Worries, Gain blessings:
اللَّهُمَّ صَلِّ وَسَلِّمْ عَلَى مُحَمَّد

Allahumma salli wa sallim ‘alaa nabiyyinaa Muhammadin (Oh Allah send blessings and peace upon our Prophet Muhammad)
Reference: Ubayy ibn Ka`b relates: I said, “O Messenger of Allah, I send much blessings on you.
What proportion of my prayer should I devote to you?” He said, “As much as you like.” I said, “A quarter?” He said, “As much as you like, and if you increased it would only be better for you.” I said, “Then a half?” He said, “As much as you like and if you increased then it would only be better for you.” I said, “Then two thirds?” He said, “As much as you like and if you increased it would only be better for you.” I said, “I’ll devote all of my prayers to sending blessings on you.” The Prophet (pbuh) said, “In that case it will suffice you from your worries and your sins will be forgiven.” [Reported by Tirmidhi who declared it well authenticated]

Abu Huraira (ra) relates that the Prophet (pbuh) said, “He who sends blessings on me once, Allah sends him blessings ten times.” [Muslim, Abu Dawud, & Tirmidhi]

5. Forgiveness for All Sins:

Say: سُبْحَانَ اللّهِ وَ بِحَمْدِهِ SubhanAllah wa bihamdihi 100 times (Glory be to Allah, and His is the Praise)
Reference: Narrated Abu Huraira (ra): Allah’s Apostle (peace and blessings be upon him) said, “Whoever says, ‘Subhan Allah wa bihamdihi,’ one hundred times a day, will be forgiven all his sins even if they were as much as the foam of the sea.” (Sahih Bukhari)

6. Desires Granted Easily (said 7 times):

“حَسْبِيَ اللهُ لَآ إِلَهَ إِلَّا هُوَ عَلَيْهِ تَوَكَّلْتُ وَهُوَ رَبُّ الْعَرْشِ الْعَظِيمِ”.
Hasbiyallaahu laa ‘ilaaha ‘illaa Huwa ‘alayhi tawakkaltu wa Huwa Rabbul-‘Arshil-‘Adheem .
(Allah is sufficient for me . There is none worthy of worship but Him . I have placed my trust in Him, He is Lord of the Majestic Throne.)
Reference: “Allah will grant whoever recites this seven times in the morning or evening whatever he desires from this world or the next.” (Sahih Abu Dawud, Ibn As-Sunni)

7. Protection from Disasters:

Say: Bismillaahil-lathee laa yadhurru ma’as-mihi shay’un fil-‘ardhi wa laa fis-samaa’i wa Huwas-Samee ‘ul- ‘Aleem 3 times (In the Name of Allah, Who with His Name nothing can cause harm in the earth nor in the heavens, and He is the All-Hearing, the All-Knowing).
Reference: “Whoever recites it three times in the morning will not be afflicted by any calamity before evening, and whoever recites it three times in the evening will not be overtaken by any calamity before morning.” (Abu Dawud, At-Tirmithi, Ibn Majah, Ahmad)

8. Dua for Anxiety and Sadness:

Allaahumma innee ‘abduka, ibnu ‘abdika, ibnu amatika, naasiyatee biyadika, maadhin fiyya hukmuka, ‘adlun fiyya qadhaa’uka, as’aluka bikulli ismin huwa laka, sammayta bihi nafsaka, aw anzaltahu fee kitaabika, aw ‘allamtahu ahadan min khalqika, awista’ tharta bihi fee ‘ilmil-ghaybi ‘indaka, an taj’alal-Qur’aana rabee ‘aqalbee, wanoora Sadree, wajalaa’a Huznee, wa thahaaba hammee.
“O Allah, I am Your slave and the son of Your male slave and the son of your female slave. My forehead is in Your Hand (i.e. you have control over me). Your Judgment upon me is assured and Your Decree concerning me is just. I ask You by every Name that You have named Yourself with, revealed in Your Book , taught any one of Your creation or kept unto Yourself in the knowledge of the unseen that is with You, to make the Qur’an the spring of my heart, and the light of my chest, the banisher of my sadness and the reliever of my distress.”
(Reference: Ahmad 1/391, and Al-Albani graded it authentic)
