Also, here is an inspirational quote about Eid from Imam Zaid Shakir:

Many of the rituals of the Hajj are centered on the life of our great spiritual patriarch, Ibrahim (Abraham). Oftentimes, when we talk about Abraham in the context of Hajj, we mention his willingness to sacrifice his son to Allah, an act that is commemorated during the pilgrimage season by the slaughter of an animal and the distribution of its meat among the poor. There are, however, many other aspects of Abraham’s life and story that are of deep significance. One of these is his appreciation for even the smallest blessing which had been bestowed upon him.

Allah mentions in the Qur’an, “…he was deeply appreciative of the smallest blessings (16:121).” Abraham’s appreciation was not just for the great blessings. The form of the word used to describe Allah’s graces, An’um, expresses paucity or a small number. This indicates that not even the smallest blessing was beyond the reach of Abraham’s appreciation.

This is a reminder for us, especially those of us living here in the West, that we should never slacken in our expressions of gratitude to Allah for all of the blessings He has bestowed upon us, both openly and hidden. We should be unwavering in our praising and thanking Allah for the blessings he has showered us with. Eid Mubarak! Eat, drink and thank Allah abundantly!
