Allah’s Love For Us

imagesOne of my favorite hadiths is the following one, which shows Allah’s love for us:

“God says: ‘I am to my servant as he expects of Me.

I am with him when he remembers Me.

If he remembers Me in his heart, I remember him to Myself,

and if he remembers me in an assembly,

I mention him in an assembly better than his,

and if he draws nearer to Me a hand’s span,

I draw nearer to him an arm’s length,

and if he draws nearer to Me an arm’s length,

I draw nearer to him a fathom length,

and if he comes to me walking,

I rush to him at (great) speed.”

(Hadith of the Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him, recorded in Bukhari and Muslim)

This hadith shows Allah’s grace, His desire to reward us much more than we deserve. All that He asks is that we take one step towards Him. If we do a small action for His sake, He will reward us beyond our expectations.

If you have time, could you please tell me an example of how in your life Allah (swt) has taken “10 steps” towards you when you took “one step” towards Him?

From my life, I have many examples, but one that stands out is how Allah (swt) has blessed me with blessed Shaykhs and Imams who I’ve had the honor to meet and learn from. When you meet and learn from learned people, your faith in Allah (swt) increases so much.

JazakAllah for sharing this. My example of when Allah SWT took 10 steps towards for me was joining Al Huda Institute to learn the word for word translation and tafseer of the Qu’ran. I thought it would just be an 18 month Qu’ran course however, it led to so many more opportunities such as being able to becoming a counsellor in training, complete my Masters and start a PhD and continue to teach the Qu’ran at various communities Alhamdulillah 🙂

Assalamu alaikum wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuh dear sister,

May Allah bless your efforts and increase you in good. Amin.

I had a friend who I loved so much. May Allah protect her. She was my best friend. Unfortunately we changed in diffrent directions. She started hanging out with people who I couldnt be with even if I wanted to alhamdulillah. Alllah protected me.
The way her life changed and the fact that we didnt belong together anymore was very very hurtful. I knew I would have to let her go because I definitely could not follow her. It took me about 2-3 years but alhamdulillah, Allah finally cut off our friendship because we went to different schools. That was very hurtful but now I know it was the only way to get away from that addiction. I was sixteen at that time. Deep inside I knew Allah will give me a better life for sacrificing this life and for not wanting to “walk” with her. Allah taught me how to have a healthy friendship, free of addiction. And soon after that Allah blessed me with a friend. I love her for who she is and she loves me for who I am. But we are not addicted to each other. We dont feel depressed if one of us cannot be there for the other because we both learned to expect that only from Allah. And these two blessings combined let us appreciate and enjoy each others company. We learn together our religion, we help each other, we are active together in two local masjids… I feel like we meet for Allahs sake and part for Allahs sake. Allah answered my prayers to bless me with a good friend for giving up my old friendship. May Allah bless us all, protect and guide us. Amin. Make Dua for us.

SubhanAllah soo many moments I can think of in regards to the beautiful article you wrote.
Hmmm the moments that come to mind Are when giving birth to my children..
I only had Allah(swt) to call out to.
The thoughts going in my mind being if I survive this pain.. That I wanted to call people back to Allah(swt) for He is the only one that has helped me in my desperate moments. The relief and gratefulness that Allah(swt) helped me through is a feeling I will never forget.

Assalamu Alaikum This a beuatiful article which has opened up a lovely discussion. Jazakaa Allahu khayran Sheima for writing this thank you very much for sharing with your readers.

There has been many times in which Allah has helped me in my life. Growing up in the west I began to desire the dunya and I had no real connection to Islam it sometime felt like a cultural practice where I maintained certain etiquettes to respect my family and local community. But I did long for a connection with Allah at times I honestly believed it was a dream that could never happen. My first step back to Allah began with dua having my first daughter was a very stressful time for me and I would often say to myself oh Allah guide me. I felt like no one knew how low I was feeling and when I reached out to others my feelings were dismissed. I used to feel so down and tried to get through each day maintaining my prayers without feeling a connection to Allah still. I used to say this dua as a whisper so often that when my daughter began to grow up and start talking she used to also say it then she later on asked me why did I always say that.
Alahmdullilah I pushed myself to read a English translation of the whole Quran for the first time. It was of course a positive experience i felt immense comfort from reading Allahs words especially to the believers. And from there I began to start learning more about the religion and focusing on Islam. This was such a big blessing because my life had a great purpose now and i felt like i could be a better mother to my daughter. I still want to be closer to Allah and to learn the Quran to have more connection to my mosque and learn Arabic. But i feel contented with my days and I know I have made so much progress and Allah has helped with so many things.
After this experiences I can see I am a stronger person more patient thoughtful. I did not previously complete my studies and I am now at university with one more year to go studying Education Studies looking forward to working with young children. Allah has helped me with so much and blessed me in numerous ways alhamdullilah. I know I still have a long way to go in terms of my deen but I am really grateful for all that things that Allah has given me.

When I had no one else to help me I finally turned to Allah, subhanaaAllah He was there for me in ways I could not have imagined.

Dear Sis. Nora, I didn’t quite understand your comment. “You want to pray…” Does this mean that you are having problems with praying?

Sis. Sheima I can pray and do pray regularly but I am not that familiar with praying istakhara for guidance so I re-read your post on it. Sorry if my comments don’t make sense I am not a good writer but I will try to work on that in shaa Allah
