Amplify Your Positive Feelings To Become Happier

“There lies within the body a piece of flesh. If it is sound, the whole body is sound; and if it is corrupted, the whole body is corrupted. Verily this piece is the heart.” (Hadith of the Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him, recorded in Bukhari and Muslim)

To become a happier Muslim, make it a habit to amplify your heart’s positive feelings. So whenever you feel good about something or thankful, take a minute to focus on your heart and increase that good feeling. It has to come from your heart.

Today I felt that Allah (swt) answered a dua I have been making to Him. I purposefully focused on my heart and the joy that I felt. I amplified this joy and gratitude. It feels so good!

Allah (swt) tells us that if we are thankful, He will give us more (Holy Quran 14:7). When you amplify the thankful feelings in your heart, you will see more goodness in your life.

This really requires that you intentionally take one minute to fully feel and amplify the good feeling.

The other day my mother in law who is staying with us said something that kind of hurt my feelings. I remembered that just a few minutes earlier she had actually said something nice to me–she had thanked me for preparing breakfast. I chose to focus my heart energy on her positive words to me that day and how they made me feel. Even though I still felt the hurt from her other words, I kept focusing on my thankful feeling for her positive words.

SubHanAllah since I did that she has been surprisingly kind and appreciative towards me! I really believe in the power of using your heart to amplify the good feelings!

Give it a try and let me know how it goes for you. 🙂
