Empty Box by Saeed Muhammed Lawan

I found this awesome activity on a TV program where the kids would
decorate a box and name it “My Good Deeds Box”. They would then pen
down every good deed they did on a slip of paper and put it into the
box. This activity was designed to motivate kids to do good deeds.

I carried home the sample box I had created for the purpose. I sat on
my table, and I decided that I too would write my good deeds and put
them into the box. That night, as I sat on my bed recalling the events
of the day, I was surprised, rather, shocked, that I found not a single
good deed on my list. Not that I had not done anything good that day;
I just didn’t find them worth mentioning. I found nothing to write
which my right side angel would record as a good deed.

Later on I remembered that I posted a hadith on a website and I
thought that for everyone who read it I’ll get the rewards. As I began to
write it down I asked myself a question which made me stop writing my day’s good
deeds.

Did I post it with a pure intention? I remembered the following hadith about intention”Innamal a’malu binniyaath”–“Every action is judged upon its intention.”

Umar ibn Al-Khattab ( ﺭﺿﻲ ﺍﻟﻠﻪ ﻋﻨﻪ ) reported: The Messenger of Allahﷺ said, “Verily, deeds are only with intentions. Verily, every person will have only what they intended. Whoever emigrated to Allah and His
Messenger, then his emigration is for Allah and His Messenger. Whoever emigrated to get something in the world or to marry a woman, then his emigration is for whatever he emigrated for.”
(Sahih Bukhari 54, Sahih Muslim 1907)

Did I ponder over its meaning?
Did I apply it?
With these thoughts in mind, I could not bring myself to write it as my good deed of the day.

Every time I recalled a deed that I had done in the day, numerous questions came flowing with them and I was left with nothing to write! I slept without writing any good deeds.

Besides your 5 daily prayers, you need to do more good deeds , set your morning routine , make sure you memorize daily supplications from our beloved prophet Muhammad SAW. Make sure you did many goods deeds in a day besides your five daily prayers such as giving charity and helping
others. Also smiling is a charity. Speak good or keep quiet . Read the holy Qur’an, seek Allah’s refuge and do much azkar.

Don’t spend your day without doing anything good. You need to do more good deeds in order to boost up your spirituality .

Some brothers and sisters are neglecting the obligatory prayers Subhanallah!
Do you pray in congregation or are you praying alone at home ?
Are you praying at the right times?
Brothers and sisters answer the call to prayer the way you are answering your phone calls . Never abandon salah. The azan was called, what are you doing? Are you pressing your phone? Chatting or
sending a birthday message?

“The difference between us and them is salaah. Whoever neglects it is
a disbeliever” (Reported by Imaam Ahmad).

No matter what conditions you are in never leave your prayers , never abandon remembering Allah.
Don’t let Satan conquer you , don’t let him whisper in your ears , you may be at your weakest point.
And this will become an opportunity for Satan. Keep remembering Allah.

“Remember me, I will remember you.” (2:152)

The clock ticks and the sun sets.
With every passing second we come closer to our end. We will all die. This duniya is nothing. Everything in duniya will come to an end and this duniya will come to an end.

May the Almighty Allah reward the writer, the pubisher, we the readers and the entire Muslims in the world. Well speaking, its true we can boast ourself of doing good but with critical thinking about what we did we will found out to score zero. So I think my fellow brothers and sisters let’s take this advice.
    Asalamu alaikum …
